A Song I Wrote

He was 18 and held his hard earned diploma in his hand
He was expected to know which road to take across this great big land
“I’m not sure what to do or where I should go.” His momma heard him say.
“Well, son, the best thing you can do, is go to the Lord and pray.”

When life is crazy and you don’t know what to do

He was 24 when he heard them say, “There’s nothing we can do.”
And they buried the baby the very next day. How can life be so cruel?
He knew he had to be strong for his wife, but his own pain made him cry.
Then finally one day he could look toward heaven and no longer question why.

He was 45 and felt the weight of the world upon his shoulders.
He was full of despair as he cried out, “I just want life to be over.”
Then images of his children flashed across his mind.
He fell to his knees and prayed to Jesus, “Lord help me through this time.”
